LAKE BAIKAL
#CircumBaikalRailway #ScientificExpedition #OlkhonIsland #GeologicalRoute #SeaExpedition
Location ONE

Welcome to the heart of Siberia, an incredibly beautiful place on our planet!

Baykal is a rift lake in Russia. It is situated in southern Siberia. Baikal is the world's largest freshwater lake by volume, containing 22–23% of the world's fresh surface water. It is the world's deepest lake, with a maximum depth of 1,642 metres and the world's oldest lake, at 25–30 million years. It is among the world's clearest lakes.

You will admire the picturesque landscapes of lake Baikal, traveling on the Circum-Baikal Railway - a historical route that organically fits into the local landscape. The slopes facing Baikal are very steep in many places, cut through by narrow but deep valleys, sometimes rising almost vertically above the lake. Stay in a comfortable eco-friendly hotel in the village of Listvyanka, which is located on the very shore of Baikal. Relax in the Russian bath. Next, you will have an interesting expedition to Baikal, in which, in addition to lectures and practice, you will visit the island of Olkhon.

Olkhon is one of the nine shrines of Asia. The largest island of the lake and the only one on which settlements exist. Isolation from the mainland contributed to the formation of a unique microclimate on the island, Olkhon Island has only 48 cloudy days a year. The amount of precipitation per year on average does not exceed 140 mm. The inaccessibility helped the indigenous people to carry and preserve their customs through time.

You will walk along the ecological route along Lake Baikal. Carbonate and silicate strongly dislocated and metamorphosed rocks of the Archean and Proterozoic are common here, as well as platform terrigenous and carbonate cemented and modified deposits, often crumpled into narrow linear folds of the northeastern strike.

We will visit the Source of the Angara (observation deck) and the Chersky Stone (a path leads to the top from the cable car).

THE WHITE SEA
#NorthernLights #Diving #SeaExpedition #SolovetskyIsland #GeologicalRoute
Location TWO
Travel to a unique place near the Arctic Circle, which is part of the Arctic Ocean basin. The salinity level of sea water is quite low and is up to 31 pm.
You will be in a remote place from civilization, which has been studied by geophysicists, geologists, biologists, zoologists, ecologists and paleontologists for almost a century.
You will settle in a wooden cottage located on the picturesque shore of the White Sea. The rooms offer a quiet view of the bay or the northern taiga forest. In the evening, you can drink fragrant tea from mountain herbs or famous berry infusions on the terrace.
The bravest will be engaged in freediving. The dive will take place in a warm wetsuit under the guidance of a professional instructor. Instructors will introduce you to the diversity of the underwater world. The waters of the White Sea are rich in a variety of flora and fauna. Here you will see thickets of seaweed, ficus, colonies of jellyfish aurelius and sea anemones metridiums, a huge number of shrimps, hermit crabs, spider crabs, sea urchins, worms of all shapes and nudibranchs in the natural environment.

Next, you will have a sea expedition on a scientific vessel equipped with all the necessary equipment for conducting research. During the expedition you will visit the Solovetsky Islands. And upon returning to the land, you will go on a geological and biological land expedition in the northern taiga forest. You will walk along the rocky coastline, rich with biological and geological sites, which you need to get acquainted with in order to understand of the nature of the Russian North.

The Solovetsky Islands, a land of harsh northern nature, is the largest archipelago of the White Sea by area. On the Solovetsky Islands, everything impresses with its solidity and inviolability: the grandiose stone walls of the Kremlin, roads and a dam on a boulder foundation, which have not been repaired for hundreds of years, but still serve people. Dozens of kilometers of man-made canals connecting hundreds of lakes of divine beauty, endless meadows created by working monks are amazing.
